Lloyd’s List Turkish Shipping Awards to return in 2012

Launched with spectacular success in Istanbul since 2007, the Lloyd's List Turkish Shipping Awards has seen the honouring of Turkish maritime companies, both large and small as well as recognising the outstanding personal achievement of personalities such as Cengiz Kaptanoglu, Capt Altay Altug, Lucien Arkas and Suay Umut who have given a lifetime of service to the Turkish maritime community.
The Lloyd's List Turkish Shipping Awards 2011 has been postponed until 2012 despite the valued commitment made by ClassNK to become the Event Sponsor of the awards, along with several commitments by other international companies as category sponsors.

While general enthusiasm for the event remains, domestic feedback from the Turkish maritime community indicates that several sectors, continue to experience difficult trading conditions. In light of this, the local maritime industry believes that conducting an awards event in such challenging times is not appropriate.

We respect this local opinion, particularly as it is always our aim to present a highly successful event.

We look forward to holding the Awards in 2012 by which time we hope that the business climate in the Turkish maritime sector will have improved considerably and that the event will again be embraced by the Turkish Shipping Community in the same whole-hearted manner as it has been in the past.
